Recovering deleted photos from a modern Android is very difficult due to default encryption and the lack of massive root access.
Play Store apps generally only find cache thumbnails or files that weren't actually deleted. For real internal memory recovery, forensic tools are needed to exploit specific chipset vulnerabilities (e.g., EDL mode in Qualcomm) to dump the physical memory and analyze it. If the phone is broken (black screen), info can often be recovered if the phone still powers on and the screen lock can be bypassed.
